On a recent trip to Mount Dora to dine at 1921 we took this
bottle to enjoy with dinner. If you like
to know about our dinner check out this site, Eating Around Central Florida.
This wine is made by one of the first woman winemakers in California
Cathy Corison. In 1987, Cathy Corison
began to purchase great Cabernet Sauvignon grapes from prime benchland
vineyards between Rutherford and St. Helena, intent on making powerful and
elegant Cabernet Sauvignon that speaks of place. In 1995, with the purchase of Kronos Vineyard,
a property that had been a farm for over a century, there was finally an estate
vineyard and a place to build a winery. In the spring of 1999 we broke ground
to build our stately Victorian-style winery barn, designed by Cathy’s husband,
William Martin.
The wine was wonderful.
The nose is classic, a blend of black cherries, sweet dark berries,
Cuban cigar wrapper, Rutherford dust, a faint hint of cedary oak and just a
hint of eucalyptus. On the palate the wine is with a gorgeous core of fruit,
ripe, buried tannins and excellent length and grip on the balanced finish. This
is stunning juice!!
Not sure if you can find the 2016 but I’m pretty sure Two
Old Hags can get the current release.
This is truly a treat.
Cheers,
